Private Clouds @ CeBIT, Based on Windows 7, Citrix & GreenBytes

This week at CeBIT, GreenBytes European partners Consolidate IT (distributor) and Losstech (reseller), have been showcasing the 'Private Desktop Cloud.' The reception in Hanover, Germany has been tremendous, and the benefits are very clear: zero administration, extreme flexibility, and tight security.

At any moment, any user can call upon any application on demand via Citrix, with no help from the IT department. This is what businesses want: keeping users as productive as possible. The 'Private Desktop Cloud' that Losstech is showcasing at CeBIT is a tremendous value as they make all the resources available to the user, with zero administration. And all that data remains in the datacenter, which is where critical company information needs to be.

The GreenBytes GB-2000 not only provides excellent performance by enabling fast roll out from golden images, but it also provides the benefit of inline deduplication. Most images are identical with VDI, so this cuts down significantly on storage capacity and cost.

With GreenBytes' high-performance, inline deduplication, Losstech has been able to demonstrate around a 40:1 data reduction. They connected the VDI servers via 10GbE, with fast switches from Blade Networks.

Companies that are considering a migration to Windows 7 should give a serious look at VDI via Citrix XenDesktop. Citrix enables a smooth migration and provides companies with many great added benefits.

For administrators, GreenBytes combined with Citrix is a great combination. Citrix StorageLink allows for a smooth integration with GreenBytes, and it's easy to manage - start to finish.

GreenBytes gives Losstech's 'Private Desktop Cloud' solution all the performance they need via SSD, and the capacity that they need via HDD. Losstech had been looking for the right products to deliver an effective and affordable desktop cloud solution, and they have found it with GreenBytes and Citrix.
